So confession time…we may still, on occasion, pull out our favorite childhood movies and revel in nostalgia. Some of our favorites are even considered classics so why not! Cherith and I were reminiscing about what our favorite childhood movies were a few weeks ago and thought, “Hey! We should do a blog post on that!” So we did, of course. Maybe somehow the movies we grow up loving as kids help shape us as adults… We’ll let you be the judge of that. 12) Peter Pan This movie started it all for me. A love for creativity and believing that, with faith, trust, and pixie dust I could fly. Well, not really. But I did start to create fantastic stories as a tiny kid in my bedroom with beanie babies because of this movie. Our dogs could fly? Sure, why not. Mermaids in our creek? You betcha. Pirates in our haymow? Absolutely. -Corinna 11) Fantasia I loved this movie growing up. It's a little trippy. It came out in the 1940's and it's full of magic, adventure, and music. There are no words for this movie... literally. It's a movie with no words. -Cherith ![]() 10) Robin Hood He’s kind of like the Bruce Wayne of tiny tots. With the cool weapons and vigilante-ism and whatnot. And with such a catchy opening tune! -Corinna 9) Annie When I was eight I watched this movie every day for an entire summer. I walked around singing "The sun will come out tomorrow..." -Cherith ![]() 8) Balto I love huskies. I love wolves. I love dog sled racing. And to this day, I still want to see the Iditarod before I die. I’m not sure if it’s because of this movie or if I loved the movie because of those things…it’s a chicken and an egg kind of situation. -Corinna 7) Beauty and the Beast To this day I sit down and watch Beauty and the Beast. It's a tale as old as time. -Cherith 6) Rio Bravo John Wayne was one of my childhood superheroes. But this movie was my all-time favorite childhood Wayne-flick. The supporting cast was funny. And the scene with the dynamite at the end was positively delightful to my tiny brain. -Corinna 5) Sandlot Loved this movie....from the scene where they were coming off the Ferris wheel puking or playing baseball under the fireworks of on the Fourth of July. -Cherith 4) Spirit Come on, what little girl doesn’t love horses. This is one of the few movies I can remember seeing in theater when I was young. Even for an animated movie, it was stunning to see on the big screen. And the sound track for this movie was absolutely incredible. I still think it’s one of the best soundtracks that ever accompanied an animated movie. -Corinna 3) The Mighty Ducks I Remember watching all the Mighty Duck movies. Charlie was my first movie crush. -Cherith ![]() 2) Davy Crockett I confess, Fess Parker may be my earliest, most long-lasting celebrity crush (although he may have been dead or shriveling up from old age at the time of my heart-throbbing). I probably still know all of the Ballad of Davy Crockett by heart. -Corinna 1) Little Giants Becky "The Ice Box" inspiring little girls everywhere. She was so cool, her and her team of misfits taking on the Cowboys. -Cherith So what about you guys? What were your favorite childhood movies that didn’t make the list? Or did? Maybe it will be one we forgot. Or one we need an excuse to watch for the first time…
