This weekend, we tried a new recipe for our Halloween get-together. And it was fantastic! For anyone out there who grew up loving Harry Potter (or still may for that matter), the treats and foods described in the books sounded like heaven and we all wanted to try them. So we did just that! We found the recipe for Butter Beer! The same drink can be bought at Potterland. We found several recipes and were able to perfect our own from these. With some slight tweaking, we developed the perfect frozen treat. You'll think that you're at Three Broomsticks. What You'll Need: Vanilla Ice cream Bag of Ice Cubes Cream Soda Butterscotch Topping Whipped Cream (optional) Scoop 3-4 large scoops of ice cream into the blender, 1-1 1/2 cups of ice cubes, and 1 cup of cream soda. Blend really well or else there ends up being large, unpleasant chunks of ice to deal with. Once blended well, add several generous squirts of butterscotch sauce and blend it in. This works better adding it at the end or else the chunks get cold and don't mix as well.
And there you have it! Pour into glasses and add whipped cream and sauce to the top. The consistency ends up being something like a frapaccino. If you like it thicker, add more ice cream and less ice. If you like a thinner consistency, less ice cream and more cream soda and ice cubes. Delicious! Frozen Butterbeer!
